Create Your Timeline In 3 Simple Steps
-
Step 1 - Ask Yourself
Will I have a First Look?
What time should my ceremony start?
What time should dinner start?
-
Step 2 - Build It
Once you've answered my questions in Step 1, you're ready to build your timeline.
I've found giving yourself 45-60 minutes of breathing room before the ceremony start is ideal.
-
Step 3 - Finalize
Wedding timelines are typically in flux until about a week or two before the big day. Make adjustments as your wedding approaches.
Make sure to share those updates with your vendors.
Helpful Tips
Create a Photo List
One of the most chaotic parts of the wedding day can be your formal family photos session. Creating a photo list for your photographer will be a life saver. The more detailed the better. Your photographer should ask for this but if they don’t I highly recommend creating one.
Keep Time-Gaps The Same
My template is created in a way that allows you to mold it to your wedding. If your ceremony is set to start at 2:30 pm then simply shift each item back an hour.
Multiple Locations?
My template is structured with the assumption that there’s one location for the entire day. If you have multiple locations then you must account for that. If your ceremony is going to take more than 30 minutes, adjust accordingly.
Give Yourself Wiggle Room
Weddings almost never run exactly on time, and your wedding timeline is just a guideline. It's okay if things get a bit off track! This is why I highly recommend building in some wiggle room for unforeseen delays which typically occur pre-ceremony.
